Design Brief ‘Frequently Asked Questions’:

The first & most important questions to ask when planning a new website are ‘why do you want a website’ & ‘what do you want it to do’? You might find answering the following useful:

  • Who would your website to be aimed at, & why?
  • Do you just want a basic website [such as some text and images with some contact details]
  • Will you need your website regularly updated?
  • Do you want a more complex website with interactive facilities? For example:
    • Do you want online purchasing facilities [payment for items by credit card]?
    • Do you want an online search facility – if so, what do you want it to search for?
    • Will you need any kind of online form for your visitors to complete? If so, what will it be for & how do you intend to use the information?
    • Are there any other facilities you think that you’ll need?
  • Have you seen any web sites that have given you ideas of layout & design etc? Examples?
  • Have you seen any magazines that have given you ideas of layout & design etc? Examples?
    • If not, look carefully at layout & images on the web and in magazines for ideas of what you would like your website to look like.
    • Have you seen the design-h5 portfolio? Does it fit-in with any ideas you might have already?
  • Importantly! What is your budget & what do expect for it?

Estimated Costs:

Costs of a website can be difficult to estimate as they are based on what you need, as outlined above. However, the summary below should give you a reasonable idea of the costs of a small basic website:

  • Including a .co.uk domain name & web space a basic one page website would cost £190 including logos text & images. [International domain name costs [such as .com] are available on application].
  • Each page for a basic website thereafter would cost £75 so, for example, a basic 5 page website would cost £490.
  • A more complex website including intricate menus, animations or online purchasing would be more involved and will inevitably require more time and effort. An estimate of the costs involved can be calculated based on your requirements.
  • Uploading your new website to all the most popular search engines [the most important bit if customers are to find you!] is included in the above costs; but to be effective will also require a little work by you as well! It isn’t difficult & full guidance will be given.
  • A fixed maintenance fee of £100 per month is available for websites that will need regularly updating, which will help keep down your costs. Updates are usually uploaded within 48 hours.
  • Based on discussing the above, design-h5 will usually give an estimate of the cost of your website within 5 working days.
Once we have agreed a format & layout for your website a deposit of £100 payable by cheque will be required to cover initial costs so that work can then proceed. This is a fully refundable deposit if you are not 100% satisfied with your new website [on condition that all relevant parties have viewed work completed before your new domain name[s] and website have been purchased & uploaded].

Information & statistics for your website traffic will be provided free of charge which you will have full access to whenever you please.
